Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones isn’t buying the notion that he couldn’t co-exist with former New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick, if the two were paired together.
While Jones wouldn’t outright speculate on Belichick’s future, he did offer his take on what a working relationship between him and the future Hall of Fame head coach would look like.
“I know him personally and I like him,” Jones said, when speaking with Yahoo Sports senior NFL reporter Jori Epstein. “There’s no doubt in my mind we could work together. None. None.”
Belichick only interviewed with the Atlanta Falcons for a coaching job once he parted ways with the Patriots, but the Falcons ultimately went with former Los Angeles Rams defensive coordinator Raheem Morris as their new head coach.
There’s still a job opening with the Washington Commanders, but as of right now, it appears as if Belichick will take a year off and pick the interview process back up in 2025.
The Cowboys have finished their last three seasons with a 12-5 record and only one playoff victory to show for it. Another disappointing showing in the postseason could push Jones to fire Mike McCarthy.
If available, it’s hard imagining a better immediate fit than a six-time Super Bowl-winning coach like Belichick.
