Jerry Jones Makes Baffling Comment on Cowboys’ Usage of WR CeeDee Lamb

Just two days after his team was embarrassed on national television against the 49ersCowboys owner Jerry Jones did his weekly interview on 105.3 The Fan where he made some puzzling comments on one of his team’s star players.

Jones, who emphatically supported quarterback Dak Prescott after he threw three interceptions in the 42–10 blowout, was asked if he wants the team to get CeeDee Lamb more opportunities. Lamb is an All-Pro wide receiver who was only targeted five times Sunday night, but Jones didn’t seem to think it’s a stressing point.

“I don’t know about that,” Jones said, according to The Atheletic’s Jon Mochota

Jones added that he wants the ball spread around to several wideouts and tight ends. Equally distributing the ball on offense is a good idea, but not utilizing your Pro Bowl playmaker, frankly, isn’t.

In his five games played this season, Lamb has been targeted just 35 times. He has caught 27 passes for 358 yards and just one touchdown pass. He’s averaging just seven targets per contest. For comparison, he averaged over nine targets per game during his career-year in 2022.

Lamb is easily the team’s biggest threat in the pass game, and it has become clear that if this team wants to go far, it’ll need its big-name players to make big-time plays.
