Jerry Flannery pays tribute to his father following death

Jerry Flannery has paid tribute to his late father following his death.

The former rugby player's dad passed away on Tuesday and his funeral took place in Castleconnell, County Limerick, on Thursday.

Paying tribute to Jerry Sr online, his son wrote: "We lost Jerry senior on Tuesday morning. It's sad but we had a great last few days together thanks to the fantastic nurses and doctors at the University Hospital Limerick."

Tributes poured in from the rugby world and beyond.

Gordon D'Arcy said: "sending all the love in the world to you, Katy Eli, Ezra & Rua."

Former Harlequins star Mark Lambert added: "Sorry for your loss Jerry."

Another comment read: "Sorry for your loss, he was always a gentleman, remember him driving his VW Beetle and parking it outside the pub."
