Jerod Mayo’s nine-word response to Patriots’ silver lining performance

New England Patriots coach Jerod Mayo summed up Sunday’s loss to the Houston Texans rather succinctly, as the team dropped to 1-5 on the season.

There were some positive takeaways from the loss, including rookie quarterback Drake Maye making the first start of his NFL career. He finished the game going 20-of-33 passing on the afternoon for 243 yards, three touchdowns and two interceptions.

The defense struggled in this one, giving up 368 yards on 62 total plays. Most notably, they gave up 192 rushing yards and two rushing touchdowns. Mayo was not pleased with the result of the game.

“We don’t feel very good about anything right now,” Mayo said, per the Boston Herald’s Andrew Callahan.

It has been a difficult stretch for the Patriots after their monumental upset win over the Cincinnati Bengals in the season opener.

There’s hope they can build on the momentum generated from Maye’s impressive debut performance as they get set to go across the pond to face the Jacksonville Jaguars in London in Week 7.
