Jerod Mayo looking to shake Patriots roster up with changes vs. Jaguars

New England Patriots coach Jerod Mayo indicated there would be lineup changes for Sunday’s game against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Wide receivers Tyquan Thornton and K.J. Osborn didn’t take a single rep in last week’s game against the Houston Texans. Thornton was a healthy scratch altogether for the game.

Kayshon Boutte, Kendrick Bourne and DeMario Douglas handled the brunt of the receiving duties for the Patriots in the matchup. Douglas led the unit with six catches for 92 yards and a touchdown in the 41-21 loss.

It appears that changes will come on both sides of the football, as penalties have continued to haunt the team throughout the season as well.

“I will say this, there will be changes for this game,” Mayo said, per a team-provided video, via NESN.com’s Sean T. McGuire. “My message for the coaches and the players, really, we want our most dependable players out there that we can really count on. If you’re going to pre-snap, post-snap penalties, we can’t live that way. It’s the personnel part of it – like a wake-up call.”

The Patriots have not won a game since the season opener against the Cincinnati Bengals.

They will have an opportunity to right the ship against a Jaguars team that also only has one win on the season. It will be interesting to see what changes are made prior to Sunday, and if Mayo’s statement has credence to it.
