Jermaine Jenas has backed Chelsea to finish in the top four ahead of Liverpool come the end of the Premier League season.
The two sides went head-to-head at Anfield on Saturday afternoon, but both struggled to show their class in what was very much a mid-table clash in terms of quality. Graham Potter and Jurgen Klopp have been hit with injury problems throughout the current campaign, which was clear for all to see on Saturday, and will need key players returning to action to stand any chance of participating in Europe's elite competition next year.
Chelsea and Liverpool have taken alternative approaches as they attempt to climb the table, the former spending huge sums in the transfer market while the Reds are searching for solutions internally by offering first-team chances to the likes of Ben Doak and Stefan Bajcetic.

Ten points is the gap the two clubs must close to reach the top four, and there was little evidence to suggest either team has the firepower to make up this ground based on yesterday's contest.
Asked on Match of the Day to suggest which of the two teams is more likely to disrupt the current sides in Champions League slots, Jenas responded: "If I had to gamble on one, I would say Chelsea - with the number of signings they've made. Liverpool just don't seem able to get themselves going. There were definitely some positives today for Liverpool, but I will go for Chelsea."
Sitting on the fence with his answer, Danny Murphy added: "I think they're both capable, but they're going to have to find form - and fast. The gap [to the top four] is still quite big."
