Marvel star Jeremy Renner has broken his silence after being airlifted to hospital with critical injuries following an horrific incident which saw him reportedly "run over" by a snow plough.
The 51-year-old actor reportedly had his life saved by a neighbouring doctor after he was left in a "critical condition" on Sunday when he was reportedly "helping a stranded motorist" before the horror incident which left him in intensive care.
The safety feature on his Snow Cat plough reportedly failed and sent it rolling over one of his legs.
The Avengers star has undergone two surgeries and remains in intensive care after he suffered "blunt chest trauma and orthopaedic injuries" in the horror weather-related accident.
Jeremy has now broken his silence, taking to Instagram to update fans on his health after the incident.
Jeremy posted a bruised selfie on Instagram on Tuesday, showing him looking weary with oxygen tubes in his nose.
Dressed in a hospital gown, he managed to snap a selfie before thanking fans for their well wishes.
"Thank you all for your kind words," he wrote. "Im too messed up now to type. But I send love to you all." [sic]
Hawkeye star Jeremy was reported to have been ploughing the road close to his family property near the Mt Rose-Ski Tahoe resort near Lake Tahoe, which is approximately 25 miles from Reno, Nevada, when disaster struck.
Jeremy is reported to have been trying to clear the route out for his family following a "massive storm" on New Year's Eve.
According to reports, a Snow Cat ploughing machine was responsible the actor's injuries, causing him to lose "a lot of blood" and suffer "extensive" injuries.
"A neighbour, who's a doctor, was able to put a tourniquet on his leg until paramedics arrived," TM Z reported.
"We're told the area was treated like an active crime scene ... with police arriving at 8pm to impound the Snowcat, which Jeremy's previously posted video of himself using on his property after snowstorms. The issue, we're told, is the machine has extensive safety features, and should not have rolled over Jeremy."
Earlier today, the mayor of Reno has released a statement, claiming the actor was helping a motorist in need.
Mayor Hillary Schieve said he was "helping someone stranded in the snow". She explained that Jeremy is "always helping others".
She told the Reno Gazette-Journal that she is a friend of Jeremy's and was called about the accident shortly after it happened on Sunday morning near the Mt. Rose Highway in Neveda.
A spokesperson for the actor said on Monday that Renner was with his family and "receiving excellent care".
Jeremy's representative also updated fans on the star's condition, explaining he is in "critical but stable condition with injuries suffered after experiencing a weather-related accident while ploughing snow".
The Washoe County Sheriff's Office previously said in a statement: "At approximately 9:00am on January 1, 2023, the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office responded to a traumatic injury in the area of Mt. Rose Highway in Reno, Nevada.
"Upon arrival, Deputies coordinated with Truckee Meadows Fire Protection District and REMSA Health to arrange for medical transport of Mr. Jeremy Renner via care flight to a local area hospital.
"Mr. Renner was the only involved party in the incident.
"The Washoe County Sheriff’s Office Major Accident Investigation Team is currently looking into the circumstances of the incident."
Jeremy is best known for his role as Hawkeye in the Avengers film series and recently played the character in a spin-off series which was released last year.
The Oscar-nominated actor is also starring in the ongoing crime show Mayor of Kingstown, which follows a power broker family in a small Michigan town.
Jeremy previously received an Oscar nomination for his 2010 role in The Hurt Locker.
The following year, her received a nomination for the Best Supporting Actor in The Town.
