Hollywood superstar Jeremy Renner is now at home recovering following an horrific accident that saw him crushed by a snow plough. The action hero of blockbusters including Avengers: Endgame and Mission Impossible - Rogue Nation is resting at home after first being hospitalised on New Year's Day.
The shocking injury occurred whilst Renner attempted to clear a driveway near his home in Nevada. His publicist said the incident had left him with "“blunt chest trauma and orthopedic injuries".
Renner had two operations and was being hospitalised in the intensive care unit. In a distressing 911 call obtained by CNN, Renner was said to be “completely crushed under a large snowcat [vehicle]” and that he had “extreme [difficulty] breathing".
The call detailed massive injuries including "the right side of his chest that had collapsed and his upper torso was crushed". Washoe County Sheriff Darin Balaam said the accident occurred after Renner's engine-powered snow plough 'started to roll away' whilst Renner was absent from the driver's seat.
On January 3, Renner took to Instagram to post an update from hospital. The photo shows injuries on the left side of his face, with a series of tubes attached to his body.
In the post, a seemingly tired yet grateful Renner wrote: "Thank you all for your kind words. I'm too messed up now to type. But I send love to you all."
Renner divulged more about his health on Monday (January 16) when he replied to a Twitter post advertising his latest show Mayor Of Kingstown. The second season of the acclaimed show was broadcast on Sunday January 15.
He wrote: "Outside my brain fog in recovery, I was very excited to watch episode 201 with my family at home." The now-viral tweet garnered 446.5k views and provoked an outpouring of best wishes as fans sent their love.
Renner who is a keen musician, is also a popular actor whose extensive film and television repertoire has seen him work with the crème de la crème of Hollywood. Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Tom Cruise and Christian Bale are just a few celebrities to mention.
