Jeremy Renner's nephew 'didn't think he was alive' as actor lay 'in a pool of blood'

Jeremy Renner 's nephew has recalled the terrifying moment he 'didn't think his uncle was alive' after the actor saved him from being crushed by a snow plough.

Alexander Fries has recalled seeing his uncle after the accident and said there was 'a pool of blood coming from his head'.

Jeremy, 52, suffered 30 broken bones, a collapsed lung and had his liver pierced by a shattered rib when he heroically risked his life for his family member.

The Marvel star was left fighting for his life after he was crushed by his 14,330lb snow plough on New Year's Day as he tried to stop the vehicle from hitting his nephew.

As part of Jeremy's upcoming interview with US broadcaster Diane Sawyer, his nephew said: "I just perfectly see him in a pool of blood coming from his head.

"I ran up to him and I didn't think he was alive."

Alexander was visibly distressed as he recalled the horror accident.

Speaking about the ordeal in a trailer for the hour-long special, Jeremy admitted he would relive the accident if it meant saving his nephew again.

He also said he was "awake through every moment" of the snow plough crush.

Despite his extensive injuries, Jeremy bravely admitted: "I'd do it again. Because it [the snowplough] was going right at my nephew."

Speaking to US broadcaster Diane Sawyer for an hour-long special, Jeremy confirmed he broke eight ribs in 14 places, sustained multiple breaks to his legs and severe damage to his shoulder and face.

He also had a lung collapse and a rib bone pierced his liver.

The programme, which will air on April 6, will also feature a recording of the 911 call made following the accident in which the actor can be heard moaning in pain.

Asked if he sees the same face when he looks in the mirror now, Jeremy replied: "No, I see a lucky man."

"I chose to survive. You’re not going to kill me. No way," he says in the teaser trailer.

Jeremy Renner: The Diane Sawyer Interview – A Story of Terror, Survival and Triumph will air on April 6 on ABC.
