Jeremy Renner remains in intensive care following surgery for blunt chest trauma

Jeremy Renner is out of surgery but remains in intensive care following his horror weather-related accident.

The Marvel star, 51, had to be airlifted to a hospital in Reno following the incident and is now said to be recovering from an operation, but remains in a critical condition.

He is said to have been ploughing snow near his home following a "massive storm" on New Year's Eve when the injury occurred.

His reps said: "We can confirm that Jeremy has suffered blunt chest trauma and orthopaedic injuries and has undergone surgery today, January 2nd 2023.

"He has returned from surgery and remains in the intensive care unit in critical but stable condition."

The statement, given to Deadline, also confirmed the actor's family had been "most grateful" for the messages of support they had received in recent days.

It continued: "Jeremy’s family would like to express their gratitude to the incredible doctors and nurses looking after him, Truckee Meadows Fire and Rescue, Washoe County Sheriff, Reno City Mayor Hillary Schieve and the Carano and Murdock families.

"They are also tremendously overwhelmed and appreciative of the outpouring of love and support from his fans."

According to previous reports, The Mayor of Kingstown star lost a lot of blood in the incident.

The Snow Cat ploughing machine he was using was said to be responsible the actor's injuries, causing him to suffer "extensive" injuries to his leg and other parts of his body.

Following the incident, a source told TMZ: "A neighbour, who's a doctor, was able to put a tourniquet on his leg until paramedics arrived."

The publication added: "We're told the area was treated like an active crime scene ... with police arriving at 8pm to impound the Snowcat, which Jeremy's previously posted video of himself using on his property after snowstorms.

"The issue, we're told, is the machine has extensive safety features, and should not have rolled over Jeremy."

Last year, the Hawkeye star took to Instagram to share a clip of himself operating a huge plough outside his home at Lake Tahoe as he battled the elements.

"I have so much respect for Mother Earth , and Mother Nature … I expect to lose the fight but I’ll always give it my best shot #tahoelife life #snowthrower," he wrote alongside the video.
