Jeremy Corbyn backs The National's urgent Medical Aid for Palestinians fundraiser

JEREMY Corbyn has backed The National’s campaign to raise funds for vital aid in Gaza and the wider region.

The former Labour leader gave his support to our Medical Aid for Palestine fundraiser, which is aiming to raise £50,000 this week.

“61,000 people in Gaza are already dead - and now the survivors are facing further blockades of food, water and electricity,” Corbyn said.

“Meanwhile, Israel is ramping up its attacks on Palestinians in the West Bank.”

The MP for Islington North added: “They are in desperate need of support, and MAP workers continue to display remarkable bravery in the most horrific conditions imaginable. Well done to The National for its moral leadership on one of the greatest injustices of our time."

It comes as Gaza’s healthcare system is barely surviving. And according to the British Red Cross, the collapsed health system and its consequences could kill more people than the conflict itself – with only 16 of Gaza's 36 hospitals operational and just 1822 hospital beds available, according to the WHO.

All money goes directly to this important charity, which is on the ground providing urgently needed medical aid and mental health support in Gaza, the West Bank, East Jerusalem, and Lebanon.

Every major Scottish party leader has already endorsed the fundraiser, calling on those who can to donate.
