Jeremy Clarkson has taken aim at Wrexham's Hollywood owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney by insisting his home side are set to follow in their footsteps.
The former Top Gear host has sponsored his local side Chadlington through his Didly Squat Farm which is featured in his Amazon Prime show Clarkson's Farm. Reynolds and McElhenney have ploughed money into the Welsh side since taking over and won promotion back to League Two this season after winning the National League.
Chadlington, who play in the Division One of the Witney and District League, finished seventh this season but Clarkson believes they can mix it with the big boys and start climbing the league structure in England. The 63-year-old is a Chelsea fan but got involved with the Oxfordshire team back in November 2021. Clarkson took to social media to tease the Hollywood superstar and insisted that his team are "coming for you."
He tweeted: “OK Wrexham. @ChadlingtonFC is coming for you.”
Clarkson has faced planning complications since purchasing the farm but had a plan to win over the villagers. He said in season two: “If I was going to win over the village, I would need a much grander gesture. So I thought of one: Diddly Squat.... sponsors of Chadlington Football Club.”
