Jeremy Clarkson suffers sleepless nights after ‘gut-wrenching’ loss on Diddly Squat Farm

Jeremy Clarkson has been suffering sleepless nights after saying goodbye to some of his beloved animals on his Diddly Squat Farm.

The controversial TV personality was forced to say goodbye to seven of his beloved pigs on the farm, as he opens up about the 'gut wrenching' loss. In a recent interview, the former Top Gear presenter, 62, said that he suffered sleepless nights thinking about his pigs' wellbeing after they leave his famous farm.

Jeremy penned in his latest column for The Sunday Times: “I can never sleep properly the night before they go, and all the way to the slaughterhouse I have what feels like a hot cricket ball in the pit of my stomach.

“And then when it’s finally time to say goodbye, I always become a little bit unmanly.”

He added: “I know that I’m trying to be a farmer and that this is what farmers do. And I know I will enjoy the bacon and ham and pork chops that result.

They cost a staggering £38 (Amazon Prime Video)

“But it’s not easy, taking seven happy, healthy pigs from their woodland home to their deaths. Especially as pig prices are currently so low I’ll almost certainly end up making a loss on the transaction.”

Sending his animals to the slaughterhouse isn't the only heartache Jeremy has faced during his stint as a farmer, as one tragic accident took place shortly after.

The broadcaster had been looking forward to his female pigs welcoming a slew of adorable piglets to Diddly Squat, when a tragedy occurred when one pig accidentally killed ten of her babies after giving birth.

The mother pig was later nicknamed Clumsy by Jeremy and his partner Lisa Hogan, after she sat on two of her 10 piglets, leading to all of their deaths. Animal lover Jeremy previously broke down in tears on his Amazon Prime show as he reluctantly sent his sheep to the abattoir for the first time.
