Jeremy Clarkson has been pictured returning to work for his job presenting job at Who Who Wants To Be A Millionaire just hours after IPSO announced it was launching an investigation into complaints over his Meghan Markle article.
Earlier today, the 62-year-old presenter arrived to film the ITV show in Manchester wearing a navy blue cardigan over a half-buttoned shirt and coat. He carried a bag over his shoulder and clutched a newspaper as he made his way to work, writes The Mirror.
Many called for the former Top Gear host to be axed from the show after his controversial comments about the Duchess of Sussex in The Sun, which reportedly prompted Amazon to "cut ties" with him.
The newspaper column in question, which has now been removed from the website, described how he "hated" the former Suits actress "on a cellular level" and wanted to see her "paraded naked through the streets".
On his way to work, Clarkson was asked whether he would continue presenting Millionaire, he said: "Yes, at the moment we are. What he says in the papers we have no control of."
Just this afternoon, IPSO (the Independent Press Standards Organisation) launched an investigation into Clarkson's article, which had been headlined: "One day, Harold the glove puppet will tell the truth about A Woman Talking B*****ks".
The press watchdog confirmed it had received 25,100 complaints from the public about the article.
In a statement, IPSO said: "We are taking forward complaints from two groups, The Fawcett Society and The Wilde Foundation, who said they were affected by breaches of Clause 1 (Accuracy), Clause 3 (Harassment) and Clause 12 (Discrimination) in the article. "We will make public the outcome of this investigation through our website and on our social media channels when it is concluded. "
After the backlash, Clarkson revealed that he had issued an apology to Harry and Meghan on his Instagram account and claimed that his ITV and Amazon bosses were "incandescent".
In the lengthy statement shared with his 5.2million Instagram followers, he said that he was "really sorry" and that he is "very angry" with himself.
