Jeremy Clarkson praises Netflix hit Adolescence for pulling off 'impossible' feat

Jeremy Clarkson has weighed in on the hit Netflix drama - (PA Wire)

Jeremy Clarkson shared his admiration after an actor from Netflix’s hit show Adolescence confirmed that a scene he thought was "impossible" to shot had actually been filmed in a single take.

The Netflix drama, co-created by Stephen Graham and writer Jack Thorne, follows 13-year-old Jamie Miller, who is accused of murdering a classmate.

The series has been at the top of the most-watched programmes on the streaming website globally since landing on Netflix.

The show has also sparked a national conversation as well as prompted questions in Parliament around the themes; incel culture, online misogyny, and the dangers of social media, explored in it.

Now, Clarkson has shared his praise over the series.

Taking to social media, the 64-year-old admitted he was left baffled by how a scene at the end of episode two was filmed, especially since it's been reported that each episode of the show is shot in one continuous take.

The scene in question featured a chase sequence, part of which was filmed through a window.

He queried on X, formerly Twitter: “Adolescence. The camera at the end of [episode] 2. How on earth did they do that? It's impossible.”

Someone who claimed to appear on the show as an actor responded: “Hey Jeremy. Actor that worked on the show. It was indeed attached VERY carefully to a powerful drone.

“They only got the take in the bag on the final day.”

The revelation impressed the Clarkson’s Farm star, who responded with praise: “Well congrats to you all. Masterful television.”

Viewers have been thrilled to learn the behind-the-scenes secrets of how they pulled it off.

Separately, Bella Roberts, who also worked on the show, shared a TikTok revealing how the scene was shot.

Roberts said: “I'm going to let you into a secret. The glass isn't real. I'm sorry to break the reality here. But basically how they did it was the window wasn't there when they filmed that shot.

“The camera goes through the empty panel, and someone is there on the other side to grab it. There is also a crash mat there on the other side of the window in case the actor fell.

“Which was also painted out... They just VFX'd the window back in.”

Danny Dyer recently poured praise on pal Graham and the hit series as well as the conversation around it, particularly the harmful impact of social media on young men.
