Jeremy Clarkson shares Clarkson’s Farm series update after partial win over Diddly Squat farm changes

Jeremy Clarkson has given an update on when fans can expect the next season of Clarkson’s Farm, admitting they’ll be waiting longer than they expected for it.

The hit Prime Video series, which began in 2021, follows the former Top Gear presenter’s attempts to run a 1,000-acre farm in the Cotswolds, Diddly Squat Farm, alongside his farmhand Kaleb Cooper.

The series has been a runaway success – with the second season, which aired in February, becoming Prime’s most-watched original show in the UK.

Back in October, it was confirmed that the show had been renewed for a third series but fans were left fearful it wouldn’t return following outrage over his vile comments about Meghan Markle in The Sun.

The column, which has since been removed online, became Ipso’s most complained-about article, receiving more than 25,100 complaints. In light of the backlash, Clarkson apologised for the piece, describing his language as “disgraceful”.

While it’s unclear whether Clarkson’s Farm will continue for a fourth series after Amazon reportedly cut ties with the broadcaster over the remarks, he has now confirmed that season three is on its way – but warned viewers that they’ll have to wait longer for it to air.

Instagram fan account, Clarkson’s Farm Fans, had shared the promotional poster for season 3 on their page and captioned it: “Who’s excited?”

Clarkson, however, commented underneath: “We actually won’t finish filming it till October.

“There’s something we are trying which won’t be resolved till then. So it’s a while off yet.”

The latest series centres around Clarkson’s battle with Oxford Council which refused to give him permission to open his Diddly Squat Restaurant.

Notably, the update comes as the Who Wants to Be A Millionaire? host won partial success against his local authority regarding expansion to his Diddly Squat Farm in Chadlington.

The TV presenter has been granted permission to extend the car park at the farm but has not been given permission to open a restaurant.

The Planning Inspectorate at West Oxfordshire District Council granted permission for the extension, and for changes to use of the land, but it did not allow for the addition of a restaurant.

Inspector RJ Perrins’ report said the council objected to Mr Clarkson adapting the land “to a mixed agricultural and leisure attraction use, comprising cafe, restaurant, gift/farm shop, parking and lavatory facilities”, the BBC reports.

The report highlighted how the farm has proved popular, leading to many visitors parking on adjacent fields, roads and verges.

“I am in no doubt that this has caused a huge inconvenience for those who live nearby,” he wrote.

He also said the addition of signage, outdoor seating, a catering van, toilet block and restaurant would affect “the character and appearance” of an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

He confirmed that the farm had contributed to local employment and the economy.

The permission granted is for three years, requiring restoration of the site following that period.

Previously villagers defended Mr Clarkson’s farm shop and described it as the “crown jewel” of sustainable living as they pleaded with the council to allow his expansion plans.

But reports emerged that workers as young as 16 were needing to wear cameras after receiving “abuse”.
