Holland boss Ronald Koeman has blasted former Celtic star Jeremie Frimpong after he refused to play for Netherlands Under 21s at the Euro Finals.
The Bayer Leverkusen defender has been strongly linked with a £35 million transfer to Manchester United this summer two-and-a-half years after leaving the Hoops in a £12 million deal. Frimpong went to the World Cup last year, but never played under then-boss Louis van Gaal and Koeman wanted to use the player in the European Under 21s Championship instead of the Nations League semi-final against Croatia this week in Rotterdam.
He picked both Denzel Dumfries and Lutsharel Geertruida instead of Frimpong. But the former Manchester City starlet refused to play for the Under 21s at the Finals in Romania and Georgia and Koeman admitted he's unhappy at his call. He said: "I don't understand his decision. And I don't think that's good.I don't think that's okay.
"The Dutch Under 21s are playing at the European Championship. If a player in question thinks he has risen above the level, I think he's making the wrong decision."
