Manchester United have been a ‘shambles’ according to former Arsenal and Middlesbrough forward Jeremie Aliadiere.
The 41-year-old has dismissed the notion that Erik ten Hag did a better job than what Mikel Arteta has done at the Gunners.
Ten Hag was sacked as manager of the Red Devils at the beginning of November following a poor start to the season. Ruben Amorim steps into the hotseat after a brief interim spell in charge by Ruud van Nistelrooy.
During his time at Old Trafford, Ten Hag won both the Carabao and FA Cup. However it has been their form in the Premier League which was a cause for concern among the club’s ownership.
After an impressive first season where they finished third under the Dutchman, they placed a lowly eighth last term and were in the bottom half of the table when he was sacked.
Arteta won the FA Cup back in 2020 but has not lifted any silverware in the four years since, though the Gunners did push Manchester City for the Premier League title over the past two seasons.
Jeremie Aliadiere Claims Arteta ‘Has Done A Better Job’ Than Ten Hag
Jeremie Aliadiere, who made 29 appearances for Arsenal, has shunned any notion that Ten Hag did a better job at Old Trafford than what Arteta has done at the Emirates.
Ten Hag, despite his disappointing reign as manager at Manchester United, walks away with more trophies in the cabinet than what Arteta has done in north London.
Aliadiere, though, believes Arsenal’s progress in the league shows that Arteta has done the better job out of the pair, while saying that United have been a ‘shambles’ over recent seasons.
The 41-year-old told Football 365: “Ten Hag just got sacked, winning two trophies in the last two years. Mikel in the last two years has not won anything but I still think Mikel has done a much better job than Ten Hag.
“Would you rather be an Arsenal fan and seeing them progress and getting closer and closer every year and challenging, maybe end up not winning, but feeling that ever year you go with a mindset that you might not win it this year but we are going to compete, or be a Man United fan?
“Yes, they won the FA Cup, but they have been a shambles, you just don’t know what team is showing up. Even if we (Arsenal) won the FA Cup last year, the fans want to see the Premier League.”
Arsenal are currently off the pace in the race for the Premier League title, with nine points separating them and leaders Liverpool.
The Gunners will hope they can start to close down the gap in the next stage of the season, beginning with a home clash against Nottingham Forest.
