Jeremiah Brent just confirmed that this tiny aspect of a room's design can make all the difference – here's where he sources his coveted light switches

Jeremiah Brent.

When we think about decorating a room, we often jump to large pieces – statement sofas, sleek appliances, and unique light fixtures can certainly make a space feel stylish. However, there are some small, often forgotten details that go just as long of a way in making a room feel chic, and Jeremiah Brent has taken to Instagram to share one of his unexpected favorites: light switches.

The interior designer, and newest addition to the Queer Eye cast ,declared that 'every detail counts,' in the caption of his Instagram post, wherein he shares that he is enthusiastic about his minimalist lighting dimmers.

'I get asked all the time about our light switches,' he begins the video. 'I have always fantasized about having these lights which makes me very middle-aged, but they are from a company called Forbes & Lomax. They're really beautiful, European-inspired.'

We can see why he loves them. Jeremiah's light switch is a gorgeous slate blue color, featuring a square wall plate and two tiny, round knobs. Super subtle and super sleek. The monochromatic fixture pairs perfectly with his statement wall mural, adding a slight amount of texture to the room but not distracting from the pattern.

'You can buy a ton of different finishes,' he says of the vintage-inspired rotary dimmers. 'They're super high-quality, they're gorgeous. There's a verdigris they have now that I'm obsessed with. There's a lot of really beautiful alternatives as well, you can check out Etsy and a lot of other online marketplaces.'

Rotary dimmers like Jeremiah's are a fantastic way to subtly decorate with vintage style, while toggle switches add even further dimension. We love how he opted for a monochromatic approach, which gives the space a uniform feel, and can easily be customized based on your wallpaper or paint color. Alternatively, make your light switch a feature, contrasting your walls completely and really having this small feature pop within the room's color scheme. Imagine a neutral space with hit of color from such a small piece – perfect if you want to embrace color trends but are a bit of a color-phobe.

Regardless of your personal preference, Jeremiah's video is a reminder that even the smallest, functional details can add personality and charm to a home.

Shop chic light switches

Jeremiah's specific light switches are available from $529 at Rejuvenation, and we have also rounded up some similar picks below from bespoke retailers like London's punky Buster + Punch, as well as Jeremiah's (and Homes & Gardens) approved retailer, Etsy. Go sleek and subtle like Jeremiah, bold and colorful for something more fun and statement, or opt for a metallic finish for a luxe look.

As Jeremiah proves, giving a room a refresh can be as simple as (literally) changing a light switch. Try a monochrome look like his, or go with a statement piece in a metallic finish to make a neutral room feel more luxe. Whatever you choose, people are bound to notice this tiny detail.
