Jenson Seelt outlines Premier League ambition after sealing Sunderland switch

Sunderland new boy Jenson Seelt believes the Stadium of Light is the right place for him to achieve his ambition of playing in the Premier League. The 20-year-old defender was an ever present for PSV Eindhoven's youth side - Jong PSV - last season finishing in mid-table of the Keuken Kampioen Divisie.

However, the central defender admits it was the right time to move on and look for a fresh chapter. Seelt said: "It feels very good to be here. It's a big club and I can't wait to get started.

"It feels like I need a new challenge and when Sunderland came, it was a big opportunity for me. I think it's a very good level and I want to go to the Premier League soon.

"I want to go to the Premier League so I think we both agreed with plans for the future and I think I can achieve my potential through here."

Sunderland's commitment to giving young players game time has made them an attractive proposition for upcoming talents across the continent. Tony Mowbray has a brilliant reputation for developing young talent and that played a part in Seelt's move to Wearside.

"I spoke with the coach and showed me stats of young players who played a lot here," the Black Cats defender said. "I just think it's very good for me to get minutes here and get my level up.

"I already knew it was a very big [stadium] and obviously the atmosphere will be great. I can't wait to get playing in front of the fans and just enjoy it.

"I can play very well with the ball at my feet. I think my passing and dribbling to get the ball in front, it's very good. I enjoy making tackles and in aerial duels, so you can expect energy and [good] football. I said it to my parents, I can't wait. I've seen videos of supporters and seen the documentary. I just can't wait."
