Jennifer Zamparelli recalls 'horrible' questions she asked Grainne Seoige on red carpet

Jennifer Zamparelli has recalled insulting Gráinne Seoige on the red carpet, saying: "It's a horrible thing to say to anybody."

Jen was reporting for former RTE Two comedy show Republic of Telly when she interviewed Gráinne on the red carpet of the Style Awards.

Gráinne was presenting Sunday night entertainment show The All-Ireland Talent Show at the time, RSVP Live reports.

Jennifer asked her: "On a Sunday Afternoon do you not want to gouge your eyes out after the show? Do you not think to yourself 'Is this the best we have in the country?'"

Gráinne, as expected, was shocked by the question and she simply replied to say: "That's a really mean thing to say."

Jennifer has opened up about the comedy clip, which is still available to watch on YouTube.

She said: "People always bring up the Gráinne Seoige clip when I asked her if she wanted to gouge out her own eyes because her show was terrible.

"It's a horrible thing to say to anybody, but it didn't coming from a place of hate. I love the woman, I think she's iconic."

Speaking to Doireann Garrihy on The Laughs of Your Life podcast, she explained there was no malice behind it: "It came from how was she going to react to it. That was my brief, to go out and ruffle feathers and get a reaction from people.

"That was the only brief so we went out and ran amuck."

Jennifer issued on apology for the things she said on Republic of Telly in the past.

She said: "Times have changed. I have made a public apology so if you look back at those videos you can't cancel me. I think I have covered myself."
