Jennifer Saunders has given Absolutely Fabulous fans a thrilling update about another instalment of beloved comedy series.
The show followed the life adventures of larger than life PR guru Edina Monsoon (Saunders) and her wild fashion director friend Patsy Stone (Joanna Lumley) as they faced personal and professional. crises.
The iconic BBC sitcom aired from 1992, and ran for three seasons - followed by a series of specials and two extra seasons later on.
However, the last time fans saw the duo on screen was in 2016, for their comedy crime flick, Absolutely Fabulous: The Movie.
But now, creator and star of Ab Fab, Jennifer Saunders, 65, has promised her long-time creative partner Dawn French, 66, that a new script of the show is in the works.
Speaking on their podcast Titting About, she shared: “I need to write a film or a series based on Ab Fab, because everyone wants another Ab Fab movie.
“I can’t do that, I just don’t have a thing. I want to do something related.”
When asked if Lumley would return to reprise her iconic role, Saunders answered: “Possibly, including some Ab Fab-ness, but not totally Ab Fab.”
Trying to keep her pal accountable, French then insisted that Saunders needed to have “a serious first draft of a film [or TV show] related to Ab Fab” by New Year’s Eve.
The pair then described shaking hands on Saunder’s commitment, with French excitedly shouting: “She’s shaking on it! Alright, there’s a deal for a new Ab Fab product!”
