Jennifer Lawrence says she'd 'drink whiskey and get stoned' with The Hunger Games stars

Jennifer Lawrence has told of her high life 'drinking whiskey and getting stoned' with two of her Hunger Games co-stars.

The 33-year-old actor claims she would enjoy a alcohol infused session with showbiz pals Josh Hutcherson and Liam Hemsworth after red carpet events for the phenomenally successful film series which they starred in.

Lawrence told The New York Times: "The boys and I would always go back to our hotel and just drink whiskey and get stoned.

Appearing to joke about her omission she added: "My mother-in-law's going to love this. I don't do it anymore; I'm a mom!"

Lawrence was cast as the fiery Katniss Everdeen in the science fiction dystopian adventure films The Hunger Games, based on the young adult novels by Suzanne Collins.

Her character undergoes a transformation across the four film franchise released from everyday teen into a headstrong leader of a rebellion against the Capitol and its titular Gladiator-style death matches.

The movies, which were released annually from 2012 to 2015, 'were fantastic' she said, adding: "The only thing that gave me pause was just how famous it would make me."

But Lawrence is quick to admit that 'she'll always be tied' to her character Katniss Everdeen.

The actor also noted that she's finally "not scared of 13-year-olds anymore" because "they have no idea who I am" now. "I can tell things are different by my interactions in the real world, just by the way that I can move about life," she explained.

And she admits with announcement that a Hunger Games prequel, titled The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, she realises how long it's been since the franchise propelled her fame.

Admitting it came somewhat of a shock she added: "I remember being 21 and thinking, ''My God, one day they'll redo and remake them. But I'll be so old by then! I'll be dead!''

Lawrence is starring in compelling TV drama Causeway (PA)

Although her predictions on both counts were proved wrong, with the prequel release as she's just 33, she is however appearing to the small screen in a compelling new role.

Cast as injured engineer in drama Causeway, she has returned to the US from Afghanistan with a debilitating brain injury following an IED explosion.

When she returns home to New Orleans, she not only has to face her new reality, but also her memories.

The film is out now on Apple TV+
