Jennifer Lawrence's engagement ring: Her new rock from Cooke Maroney makes its public debut at Dior

Jennifer Lawrence and her new fiancee Cooke Maroney are a notoriously private couple, rarely seen out in public together.

But when Lawrence stepped out for Dior’s Paris Fashion Week show on Tuesday, the Oscar-winning actress did display the engagement ring given to her by Maroney.

Following Lawrence's engagement an eyewitness had previously described the rock as “massive” to Page Six. While there’s no official word on who designed it, there have been a couple of estimations regarding how much it cost.

According to gemologist Grant Mobley, the ring could have cost Maroney as much as £150,000, remarking that it appears to be a "4 to 5 carat emerald cut diamond set in a classic platinum four prong solitaire mounting with a petit band". He also added that the ring was likely to "retain its value over time" as a rock of that quality and size was "growing increasingly rare".

Lawrence and Maroney are believed to have started dating back in June 2018, after which they were photographed numerous times on a series of date nights. Page Six reported that they were set up by their mutual friend Laura Simpson and a spokesperson confirmed to E! News that they were officially engaged at the start of the month.

A source told Page Six that they had seen Lawrence with Maroney at a French restaurant named Raoul’s, where her ring was in full view. “They seemed like they were celebrating and people were talking about it" said the source, "The ring was very noticeable. They were sitting back in a corner.”

Maroney is a departure from Lawrence’s previous boyfriends, who were all connected to Hollywood in some way. They include Nicholas Hoult, who she co-starred with in X-Men Apocalypse, and director Darren Aronofsky, who she worked with on Mother! Lawrence previously said in an interview that she is still "friends with all [her] exes" and revealed, "All my boyfriends have been wonderful. Nick [Hoult] was a great boyfriend."

She added, "Every time I go through a breakup, it's not like my heart isn't broken. They just never did anything to like, devastate me. They were just good people. Maybe that's also the secret. I'm attracted to good people."
