Jennifer Ellison undergoes medical procedure after suffering 'extreme pain'

Jennifer Ellison shared a health update with her fans as she underwent a medical procedure.

On Thursday, the former Brookside star shared a photo of what appeared to be a hospital operation on social media. The 38-year-old said she was taking "the biggest step in a very personal journey."

Captioning the post on Instagram, Jennifer said: "Since I had my first son Bobby 12 years ago I have suffered with extreme varicose veins in my legs, which look so ugly and sometimes cause extreme pain. Apparently its hereditary. Anyway they’ve gotten that bad that the next step for me would be a blood clot or ulcer."

"So I’ve decided to take action and do something about it. I'm writing this post because its something I’ve been extremely embarrassed about, its not something we like to admit to, in fact its something I’ve gone to huge lengths to hide. I cant remember the last time I wore a skirt, a pair of shorts or felt like I didn’t need to wrap something round my legs on holiday."

The actress explained she was about to have laser treatments on both legs, adding: "I cant wait to see the results and hope that talking openly and honestly about my experience, as I’m going through it, might help people out there, to know they don’t have to live like this. I've spent far too long! I know I’ll be fine as I’m in the best hands"

On Friday, the mum-of-three shared a snap of herself wearing a hospital gown with her many fans. Jennifer said: "All ready!" before later sharing a video following the first treatment, on her left leg.

She also shared a photo of how her leg looked before the procedure and said: "So this was my left leg. Hence why I've never worn a short skirt." She also said the treatment was "uncomfortable" but not painful.
