Hollywood actress Jennifer Coolidge has opened up about her insecurities, admitting she's not always the funny, confident lady fans see on screen.
The comedy actress, 61, has become known for her roles in the American Pie series, Legally Blonde and now the HBO hit The White Lotus.
Playing one of the lead characters Tanya McQuoid has seen Coolidge win a Critics Choice award, a Golden Globe and an Emmy for her celebrated performance in the hit series.
However Coolidge has revealed she still battles with severe self-doubt and says she doesn't feel comfortable in Hollywood despite her recent string of award wins.
Speaking to Page Six, Coolidge explained: "I’ve been around forever, since I was 30 — that’s a long time.
"But when I go to a party with my other actor friends, I don’t know any of the people. I live a secluded life in New Orleans and I only know the people I meet on the job and my friends from The Groundlings."
Asked to explain her reasons for her insecurities, the Legally Blonde star said it was all down to her love life.
“Oh, I don’t know. I mean, my dating life, I’ve never found anyone quite right for myself,” she said. “I haven’t found the love of my life.”
“I think I made some bad decisions. It makes you insecure and you don’t think you’re great,” she continued.
Jennifer added that while some people in Hollywood have told her they 'like her work' the only way she feels they really mean is if they 'give you a job.'
Coolidge has many reasons to celebrate though as her recent award wins recognise her acting talent in the two seasons of The White Lotus. The 61-year-old has also been praised for her comic mix up at the Golden Globes where she mistook the awards ceremony for the Oscars.
She started her speech to announce nominees: "So, the Oscar goes to," before quickly realising her error and correcting herself as she said: "Oh, no, no, wait, Golden Globes."
In her typical oversharing manner, Coolidge continued her speech as she explained the call that led up to her accepting the announcing job.
Describing how a person from the show rang her, she said: "'I said, oh, my god, that is such an honour, thank you, thank you so much. Yes, I would love to, and I hung up on her."
She continued: "And then I thought about it for a little bit, and I just had a complete anxiety attack. And I got very, very nervous and I said "oh, my god, I'm not doing this so I called Cara right back.'
"And I said, 'Cara, I'm so touched that you would want me to do something, but, listen, I'm going to tell you something, there is no way that I'm going to make it from behind the curtain all the way to the podium without breaking my skull, you know, because of all these over waxed floors and stuff.'"
She had the audience in hysterics as she also revealed she was terrified of pronouncing actors' names wrong, before name dropping Big Bang Theory actress Kaley Cuoco.
