Jennifer Connelly's 'outdated' flooring is back in style for 2024, and experts say it is an easy way to add subtle color

Jennifer connelly.

Who's afraid of a little pattern? Not Jennifer Connelly, that's for sure.

The He's Just Not That Into You actress took to Instagram to share a smile-inducing video of a face-off between her dog and cat, revealing bits of her entryway and kitchen in the process. Though the video was funny, we were most impressed by the bold, geometrically patterned tiles on her entrance floor. Jennifer's flooring idea is a brilliant way to introduce subtle patterns and colors into her house, according to experts.

'A geometric floor tile is always in style – I love how Jennifer Connolly's tiles feature contrasting colors but in a really subtle, underrated way,' says designer Kathy Kuo. 'This tiled design adds a pop of brightness and visual intrigue without overwhelming the space or creating any clashing or aesthetic tension.'

Furthermore, experts assert that the placement of Jennifer's subtle tiles is spot on. 'The entryway tile idea is a fun, functional, and aesthetically pleasing addition to Jennifer Connelly's narrow entryway,' adds Elizabeth P. Lord-Levitt, principal designer at Elizabeth P. Lord Residential Design LLC.

'The installation design of the two tiles creates a carpet runner effect, allowing for simple surround tile to highlight the patterned tile.'

For those hoping to replicate Jennifer's entryway, its benefits are more than just aesthetic. Elizabeth says, 'The functionality of the pattern tile with the contrasting pattern is also a great way to hide wear and tear, and debris tracked in from outside.' This functionality renders the style an excellent choice for making a bold impression in an entryway.
