Jenna Dewan's nursery is a masterclass in decorating for children and adults alike – it's 'cozy, mystical and peaceful'

The difficult balance of designing a nursery is creating a sweet and childlike space to appeal to a baby but sophisticated enough that it will be enjoyable for an adult to spend time there. Jenna Dewan's new nursery perfectly strikes this balance.

Dewan teamed up with the team at Crate & Kids to bring her dream nursery idea to life. The result is an adorable, baby-pink space with calming wood accents. Pink wallpaper with small white flowers covers the walls, contrasted with a white ceiling, white edging and a black door. Furniture includes an antique-style crib, a cutesey daybed and a row of shelves for storing toys and supplies for the new baby. Though the space is sweet, it never makes the pitfall of becoming too saccharine.

The team at Crate & Barrel was a huge help to Dewan throughout the design process. She tells Homes & Gardens: 'The Crate & Kids Design Desk team was amazing. I wanted a warm, cozy, mystical and peaceful feeling for the nursery, and they brought it all together with details of our dreams! Their team helped pull the color scheme, wallpaper, theme all together in the best ways possible that completely fit the dimensions of the room. I was in total awe and emotional when I saw the final room – I thought it was beyond perfect!'

The success of this space is in the mix of styles the Crate & Kids team has pulled together. Dewan's olive tree in the corner, the black shades and the black-painted door give the space a more sophisticated, modern decor edge. It's the perfect contrast to the sweetness of the pink floral wallpaper, the pink carpet and the pink bedding. A few organic details also help to elevate the space. From the natural wood of the crib to the rattan lampshade, these earthy decor items help to ground the baby pink in the rest of the space.

Further, Dewan has designed the room so that her baby can grow into it. For now, the crib is the perfect resting place and the shelves are perfect for storing baby supplies. As baby Rhiannon grows up, the day bed will become a better place for sleep and the shelves will become perfect toy storage.

Though Dewan's whole nursery is stunning, it's undeniable that her choice of pink and white wallpaper takes the space to the next, completely adorable level. To recreate the style, choose your sweet wallpaper, that you will also want to look at for the next few years. Our editors love this bow wallpaper that's in line with 2024 interior design trends. For a more traditional look, opt for a floral pattern with muted tones. Finally, if you prefer a more gender-neutral style, these thin green stripes would look adorable in any nursery.

If you hope to recreate a similar look start with a monochromatic color scheme. Then, purchase every piece of furniture, wallpaper, and decor in different shades of this color scheme. Dewan selected pink for her baby's room, but you could also opt for blue, green, yellow, or any other sweet, muted hue.

Jenna Dewan's nursery is an inspiration for a space that's perfect for a child, but just as joyful to spend time in as an adult.
