Jenifer Lewis Recounts Harrowing Fall During Serengeti Vacation In Tanzania

Incident at the Rainbow Bridge border crossing in Niagara Falls

Jenifer Lewis recently shared a harrowing experience from her trip to the Serengeti in Tanzania, where she suffered a devastating fall that left her unable to move and fearing for her life. The incident occurred during what was supposed to be a relaxing vacation following the completion of her work on the show Black-ish and the release of her book.

While staying at a resort in the Serengeti, Lewis ventured out onto her hotel balcony to admire the scenery at night. However, she tragically fell 10 feet into a dry ravine filled with boulders and sharp rocks. The area was not properly marked or secured, leading to the accident.

Lewis described the intense pain and shock she experienced after the fall, with her right hip and shoulder bearing the brunt of the impact. Despite her injuries, she managed to call out for help to her friend, who was with her on the trip. The situation became even more alarming when Lewis heard a lion roar nearby.

Following the accident, Lewis underwent a period of recovery before returning to work on projects such as the Night Court revival and a musical movie starring Jennifer Lopez. She chose to keep the details of her fall private until she could demonstrate her resilience and recovery to the public.

The full interview with Lewis, where she discusses the incident in more detail, is set to air on ABC News Live and will be available for viewing on Hulu. The actress's candid account of her ordeal serves as a reminder of the unexpected challenges that can arise during travel, even in seemingly safe environments.
