Thick smoke engulfed the scene as a Jeju Air jetliner crash-landed on the runway of Muan International Airport, as captured in multiple footage clips released by the public broadcaster's news agency. The dramatic videos depicted fire services battling the flames with water cannons, while various parts of the aircraft were scattered across the runway and an earthen embankment.

The distressing incident occurred just after 9 am local time, with the Jeju Air plane carrying a total of 175 passengers and 6 crew members. A fire department official provided insight into the severity of the situation, stating that the airplane had been 'almost completely destroyed' by the ensuing fire.
