It’s a big offseason for Lions cornerback Jeff Okudah, no doubt about it. After two underwhelming, injury-ravaged seasons, Okudah needs a strong 2022 to get his promising career back on track.
The young CB offered an optimistic glimpse at his recovery from an Achilles injury that ended his 2021 season after just 48 snaps. Okudah posted a video of some recent on-field work he’s performing in his rehabilitation.
He looks like he’s moving very well for being six months out from the injury. Note the portion of the clip that begins at the 31-second mark, where he stutter-steps and then explodes out of the set to match the receiver.

It’s a promising development for a player whose development holds so much promise for the Lions defense. After just 10 games in two seasons since being the No. 3 overall pick in the 2020 NFL draft, Okudah is no longer guaranteed a prime spot in the secondary. But his healthy potential remains the highest of any player currently on the entire defense. The Lions need that to come to fruition in 2022.
