Amazon Inc. founder Jeff Bezos recently made headlines with his latest real estate acquisition in Indian Creek Village, Florida. Bezos purchased a home in this exclusive enclave for a staggering $90 million in an off-market transaction, as reported by Bloomberg. This luxurious property is situated on a man-made barrier island in Biscayne Bay, off the coast of Miami, known colloquially as Billionaire Bunker.
This latest purchase marks Bezos' third acquisition on the island, with plans to reside in the newly acquired mansion while the other two properties are set to be demolished, according to Bloomberg. The home, which Bezos acquired, had last changed hands in 1998 for a mere $2.5 million, showcasing the significant appreciation in value over the years.
Reports indicate that the mansion was previously owned by Javier Holtz, who holds the position of vice-mayor in the municipality. Bezos' real estate splurge comes on the heels of his recent sale of 50 million Amazon shares, netting him approximately $8.5 billion earlier this year.
Bezos' previous acquisitions in Indian Creek Village include a three-bedroom home purchased for $68 million in June and a sprawling 23,000-square-foot mansion acquired for $79 million in November. The latter property, located at 12 Indian Creek Island Road, boasts luxurious amenities such as a wood-paneled library, movie theater, wine cellar, wet bar, and a cabana house, as detailed in a Facebook post by Dina Goldentayer Real Estate.
Indian Creek Village, with only 41 waterfront properties as of 2017, is renowned for its exclusivity and privacy, making it a coveted destination for high-profile individuals seeking opulent residences. Bezos' latest real estate ventures underscore his penchant for acquiring prestigious properties in prime locations, further solidifying his status as one of the world's wealthiest individuals.
