This marks Smart's first time hosting the iconic comedy show, bringing her comedic talents to a new audience. Joining her on the first show will be Jelly Roll, who will be making his debut performance on 'SNL' as the musical act. Jelly Roll had also appeared at the Emmys, singing during the ceremony's in memoriam segment.
Following Smart's debut, comedian Nate Bargatze will take the hosting reins on October 5, with Coldplay set to perform as the musical guest. The lineup continues with Ariana Grande hosting on October 12, ahead of her starring role in the upcoming “Wicked” film adaptation, and music legend Stevie Nicks performing.
As the Halloween season approaches, “Beetlejuice” star Michael Keaton will host the show on October 19, with Billie Eilish scheduled as the musical guest for the night. The season will also see the return of “SNL” alum John Mulaney as host on November 2, accompanied by breakout sensation Chappell Roan as the musical guest.
