Jealous Scottish woman appears at Edinburgh court after attacking love rival on doorstep

A Scottish woman attacked her love rival on her doorstep after becoming suspicious she was cheating with her boyfriend, an Edinburgh court heard.

Jealous Laura Jamieson had grown suspicious her partner was seeing a woman behind her back in the weeks before the incident.

The Daily Record report that Edinburgh Sheriff Court heard how the woman later told cops the love triangle was actually an “open relationship”, a set-up Jamieson denied was true.

Jamieson, 33, appeared in court on Thursday and admitted behaving in a threatening or abusive manner, shouting, swearing, hurling abuse, and kicking the woman on the body.

Fiscal depute India MacLean said Laura's love rival had been at home when the accused turned on her door in Wallyford, East Lothian.

Ms MacLean said the two women started arguing and became “engaged in a struggle with each other”.

The prosecutor said Jamieson kicked the woman to the body during the confrontation.

Police were called by passersby and officers arrested Jamieson. Upon being cautioned and charged, she told cops: “She’s talking s**t.”

Defence agent Mary Moultrie said Jamieosn had been in a relationship with her partner, who had “cheated on her on two occasions”.

Ms Moultrie said Jamieson had been assured there was no longer a relationship between her boyfriend and the woman, but she became “suspicious”.

The solicitor said Jamieson went to the door to “recover items” and believed she saw her boyfriend.

The court was told Jamieson asked if they were in a relationship and the woman had denied it.

Ms Moultrie said the woman had told cops after the incident on November 5 20202 that “the three of them were in an open relationship”, adding Jamieson “doesn’t accept this has ever been the case”.

Sheriff Adrian Fraser fined Jamieson, of Musselburgh, East Lothian, £290.
