Vice President-elect JD Vance has announced his senior staff appointments, drawing heavily from his former Senate office. Jacob Reses, who previously served as Vance's chief of staff in the Senate, has been appointed as the chief of staff to the vice president. Bryan Gray, who held the position of state director in Vance's former Senate office, will now serve as the deputy chief of staff. Gray also managed the campaign of newly-elected Ohio Sen. Bernie Moreno.
Ben Moss, the former general counsel to Vance in the Senate, has been named as the director of domestic policy. Andy Baker, who previously worked as the national security adviser to Vance, will continue in that role. Abby Delahoyde, who previously served as the director of operations for Vance's Senate office, will retain her role in the new administration.
Sean Cooksey, the commissioner and former chairman of the Federal Election Commission, will join Vance's team as counsel. Cooksey's resignation from the FEC will be effective on January 20 at midnight.
In a statement, Cooksey expressed his honor at being appointed as Counsel to Vice President-elect Vance and joining President Trump's administration. He emphasized the importance of prioritizing American citizens in government actions over the next four years.
The communications team for Vance will be led by William Martin as communications director, Luke Schroeder as deputy communications director, and Taylor Van Kirk as press secretary.
Shannon Fisher, who previously served as a special assistant to Usha Vance during her husband's recent campaign, will take on the role of chief of staff to the second lady. Fisher also held the position of deputy director of external and GOP affairs for the Republican National Convention.
