There’s a man at the top of US politics who’s become an internet sensation in the form of memes — and it isn’t Donald Trump.
The internet has fixated on one man this week — Vice President JD Vance.
From supporting Trump during his Congress speech to fiery meetings in the Oval Office, the internet has been quick to provide laughs alongside some serious news.
Mr Vance has been widely derided on social media following his heated exchange with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky at the White House on Friday. Mr Vance questioned the rationale behind Mr Zelensky's request for more funds; challenged his ethics; and strongly backed Trump by warning the Ukrainian leader that US support could be withdrawn if he didn’t agree to the deal on the table.

Social media quickly erupted, with many seizing the opportunity to create memes. A snap shared in October of a Republican congressman’s post on X (formerly Twitter), showing a “Yassified” JD Vance with plump lips, airbrushed skin, and perfectly plucked eyebrows, resurfaced again after the explosive Oval Office meeting.
Here are the best memes mocking Mr Vance.
One of the most popular involves Vance’s purple skin and enlarged face. This makes him look like the character Violet Beauregarde from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, who turns into a giant blueberry after eating experimental chewing gum while touring Willy Wonka’s candy factory.
It had more than 7.5 million views on X at the time of writing.
“For the last time, Mr. Wonka, I did not try any experimental gum, and frankly I find this entire line of questioning insulting.” pic.twitter.com/4WHwKITHXa

Mr Vance’s overweight, absurd and cartoonish reimagining continued with memes such as the following three:
I have completely forgotten what the real JD Vance looks like at this point. pic.twitter.com/rMaKcY5h3w

One person even started morphing Mr Vance’s face into that of other celebrities for ‘likes’, proving that, no matter the seriousness of the news, there’s always room for a joke.
