Vice presidential nominee JD Vance expressed his hope that Independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. would drop out of the race and endorse Donald Trump. Vance suggested that many individuals in Trump's circle believe Kennedy's continued campaign is ultimately benefiting Vice President Kamala Harris.
During a press briefing on his campaign plane, Vance stated, 'There are a lot of people in President Trump’s orbit who know Bobby Kennedy, who think that he’s fundamentally running a campaign that’s helping Kamala Harris. At this point, I certainly hope that he drops out and endorses, you know, endorses President Trump.'
Despite his desire for Kennedy's endorsement, Vance made it clear that he would not compromise ethical standards by offering government positions in exchange for support.
Vance further argued that Kennedy's views align more closely with Trump's than with Harris's, particularly on issues such as foreign policy and what he referred to as 'medical freedom.'
In response, Kennedy emphasized that he has no intention of endorsing Harris and highlighted the disparity between his values and the Democratic Party represented by Harris.
Expressing uncertainty about Kennedy's future actions, Vance reiterated his hope for Kennedy to exit the race and throw his support behind Trump. However, he acknowledged that the final decision rests with Kennedy.
