Republican vice presidential nominee JD Vance has expressed openness to including a Democrat in a potential second Trump administration, in response to Kamala Harris's statement that she would appoint a Republican to her Cabinet if elected.
Vance mentioned that there are Democrats actively supporting the Trump team, citing Tulsi Gabbard and RFK Jr as examples. Gabbard, a former Democratic representative, and Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who recently suspended his own presidential campaign as an Independent, have both joined Donald Trump's transition team and endorsed him in recent days.
Gabbard made a notable departure from the Democratic Party in 2022, while Kennedy initially competed against Joe Biden in the Democratic Party's 2024 presidential primary before running as an independent candidate.
When asked about the possibility of appointing Kennedy to a Trump Cabinet, Vance did not make a firm commitment but expressed a desire for Kennedy to contribute to addressing significant issues, stating, 'I hope that Bobby plays some role in answering some of the big questions, and we'll see what that looks like.'
