It felt like almost every NBA analyst covering the league weighed in on the offseason workouts held in common between current Boston Celtics All-NBA forward Jayson Tatum and his historical predecessor in Boston, Celtics Hall of Fame forward Paul Pierce. Even The Truth weighed in on the workouts, but we had to wait until Boston’s Media Day to get the skinny on them from Tatum himself.
What did they talk about during those workouts? “All the little things that (Pierce) took away from his championship team in 2008, how close you have to be as a unit,” explained Tatum via CLNS Media’s Bobby Manning.
“You need everybody on the team to help win a championship,” he added, “because one series, somebody might be an X-factor who’s different from the next series.”
Did these trades set the stage for an epic Eastern Conference postseason showdown? https://t.co/CzdDXHqsGX

“They all add up, and all the stories … team meeting and things they did off the court as a group,” said Tatum.
Given Pierce himself had a similar path of being good but not good enough to break through and hang a banner after several years of trying, the conversations between those two had to be insightful.
Hopefully in a way that delivers for the St. Louis native and his team come April.
