Jayson Tatum helps launch new PvP Challenge feature on NBA 2K Mobile

Boston Celtics All-Star Jayson Tatum has further expanded his celebrity reach, this time with an expanded partnership with the hit video game franchise NBA 2K. Already one of the most prominent stars in the game, Tatum recently starred in a promotional video launching 2K Mobile’s new PvP (player versus player) Challenges feature.

Not only does Tatum adorn the new feature’s loading screen in Celtics green, but he starred in a launch advertisement alongside the head of lifestyle and content marketing for the franchise, Ronnie 2K. In a commercial full of fun Easter eggs, Tatum hops into the new PvP mode next to his trademark custom Mustang, sitting at the barbershop in Boston, and really all over the map.

As NBA 2K told Celtics Wire, this new mode is designed to let players challenge their friends and family with the stroke of a finger. And to celebrate the launch, players are offered a promo code to earn a Jade Tier Jayson Tatum card in the game through June 15.

2K told Celtics Wire this new feature has been in the works for a while, and the new PvP Challenge mode also uniquely has no energy drain system, meaning players aren’t fatigued during gameplay. The launch of this new mode also comes with upgrades to facilitate smoother connections, upgraded visuals, and more.

Tatum isn’t just the new face of PvP Challenges on 2K Mobile. He also popped up as the league’s MVP in NBA 2K23’s official season simulation. As Ronnie 2K told our Cameron Tabatabaie, Tatum’s unique prowess on the court is hard to ignore.

“The interesting thing about Jayson,” said Ronnie 2K, “is that he doesn’t put up a ton of just empty stats.”
