The new series of Dancing on Ice has already seen its fair share of controversy following complaints over former Love Island contestant Ekin-Su for her outfit choice After she performed what Holly Willoughby described as the 'sexiest dance ever' Ofcom received over 100 complaints and some viewers branded the performance 'inappropriate' for a show starting at 7pm.
Ekin-Su has previously said she was "really upset" by the backlash she received for her performance in which she wore a bikini-inspired outfit as she performed to Britney Spears' track Toxic
Now Nottingham's Jayne Torvill, who is a judge on the show alongside Christopher Dean, Ashley Banjo and Oti Mabuse, has spoken out about the controversy. Jayne and Chris appeared on ITV's Loose Women on Friday (January 27) and they discussed her outfit. Jayne admitted she was surprised by the outfit choice, but speaking about the controversy surrounding her costume, Jayne told the Loose Women panel she understood why it was chosen, the Express reports.

“I was a little bit surprised, I have to say, but it was in keeping with the song and the Love Island connection so I see how that was,” she explained.
“But she's a really lovely girl and she's taken it all on board.
“And in her skate off, she definitely deserved to go through.

Fellow Dancing On Ice judge Oti Mabuse has also defended Ekin-su and said she was “excited” to be part of a show which receives complaints.
She continued: “If I had that body, I would wear less all the time. It is so exciting to be part of a show that gets complaints.
“I thought the outfit was really, really sexy and risk-taking is what is important to me."
It comes after it was revealed there will be a major shake-up the Dancing On Ice format this weekend, as for the first time in the show’s history there will reportedly be no skate off between the two lowest ranked celebrities.
It comes after Ekin-Su landed in the last skate off with footballer John Fashanu, who ultimately became the first to be eliminated alongside his professional partner Alexandra Schauman. John had joked seconds earlier that he knew he hadn't done enough to stay on the show.
