Jayne Torvill's 'horror' injury led to a Dancing on Ice final tradition to be shelved on Sunday night as upset viewers voiced their concerns for the skating legend.
Fans were first worried for Jayne a few weeks ago when she appeared on screen with strapping on her arm, revealing to hosts Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby that something had gone wrong on the training rink. Days before last weekend's Dancing on Ice semi final, she went into hospital for surgery and unfortunately that meant that, while the final two couples in the finale got to perform their take on Torvill and Dean's iconic Bolero, there was no performance from the Winter Olympic champions themselves.
Jayne and Chris performing in the final is something that millions of viewers look forward to every year but, Jayne's injury and subsequent operation, meant that that wasn't possible this time round. The timing of Jayne's fall, which saw her crash to the rink as she and Chris rehearsed, couldn't have come at a worse time as it happened just days before they were due to perform and record their routine to Hold My Hand from Top Gun.

As soon as Jayne appeared on Sunday's final, it became abundantly clear that she was in no condition to perform, with her explaining, after The Vivienne's first performance, that she hadn't been allowed on the ice in any capacity, let alone skating herself.
Gutted that Torvill and Dean wouldn't be performing in Sunday's final, one fan took to Twitter to post: "Poor Jayne @torvillanddean miss seeing them perform. Get well soon legends," with a second tweeting: "Gutted you can’t skate with your injury! But very excited for the final"
