It’s been a tough week for former Falcons safety Jaylinn Hawkins. After getting waived by Atlanta on Tuesday, Hawkins was claimed by the Los Angeles Chargers on Wednesday.
Unfortunately, the former fourth-round pick was carted off the field during his first practice in Los Angeles on Thursday afternoon.

It’s just another tough break for Hawkins, who had worked his way up to a starting role in 2022 before getting replaced in the lineup by Jessie Bates in 2023.
Hopefully, the 26-year-old’s injury isn’t too severe as he still has plenty of upside. Hawkins reportedly had multiple teams put waiver claims in following his release from the Falcons.
Hawkins had back-to-back seasons with two interceptions in 2021 and 2022. Last year, the fourth-year safety started 16 games for Atlanta, finishing with two interceptions, six passes defended, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery for a touchdown.
