Jaylen Brown discusses Warriors’ disrespectful defensive coverage

The Golden State Warriors suffered a lopsided loss to the Boston Celtics on Sunday. During the early part of the game, Steve Kerr‘s team chose to sag off Jaylen Brown at the 3-point line to better defend the threat of him driving into the paint, where he usually does most of his work on offense.

Instead, Brown was hot from deep. In 22 minutes of playing time, he went 5-of-10 from the perimeter and 11-of-19 from the field. When speaking to the media after the game, Brown admitted he felt the Warriors’ defensive game plan was a little disrespectful.

“It’s the first time it’s ever happened to me,” Brown said. “Honestly, I was a bit surprised. Took a little bit of adjusting. But I think we just took advantage of whatever that attempt was and just made the best of it. … I get to the paint and I usually open it up for everybody else. But, if you want to dare me to shoot, we can do that too. I thought it was a little disrespectful. But we took advantage of it.”

The Warriors came into the game having won their last three games, which came on an Eastern Conference road trip. However, it was clear there were tired legs throughout the roster.

Golden State heads back to the Bay Area to face the Milwaukee Bucks on Wednesday. The Warriors look to get back into the win column against a Milwaukee team that has endured a difficult season.
