Jaylen Brown Blasts Official, Laments Not Getting ‘Money's Worth’ on Ejection

Celtics two-time All-Star Jaylen Brown was not happy about being ejected from Boston’s 133–123 win over the Knicks on Friday night.

The star guard was hit with a pair of technical fouls in less than a minute after arguing with a referee over a foul call in the fourth quarter.

While speaking with reporters after the game, the eight-year veteran stated what angered him most was not getting “his money’s worth” on his first career NBA ejection.

“I always thought my first career ejection would be something a little more exciting,” Brown said. “Maybe a tussle or something, guys get folded up, go to the ground. Not some overemotional ref who had a bad day. What I’m most upset about is that I should’ve gotten my f------ money’s worth.”

Prior to the second technical foul, Brown had 17 points on 7-of-13 shooting while adding four assists, one steal and one block in 27 minutes.

“On the second one, I’m on the bench. I’m talking from the sideline and he can’t even hear anything that I am saying,” Brown explained. “So he calls a tech from across the court and that’s for sure have to do with somebody having their emotions too involved in whatever else is going on and exercising their power with technical fouls.”

Brown and the Celtics (16–5) will look to remain the only NBA team unbeaten at home (10–0) on Tuesday when they host the Cavaliers at TD Garden.
