Charges against a New South Wales man accused of causing significant injury to another man's hand with a "long-bladed weapon" have been upgraded to attempted murder.
Jayden Wade Doyle, from Dubbo in NSW, was initially charged with grievous bodily harm after an incident at The Pines rural community near Millmerran in Queensland on the night of April 2.
Police allege a dispute occurred at the address at 9:30pm "where a 56-year-old man sustained a significant injury to his hand caused by a long-bladed weapon".
He was taken to Toowoomba Hospital in a critical condition.
Mr Doyle, 25, allegedly fled the scene.
He was found by police a short time later at a service station about 20 kilometres away on the Gore Highway at Captains Mountain.
He was charged with grievous bodily harm on Monday but that was today upgraded to attempted murder.
Police also charged him with robbery, unlawful use of a motor vehicle and going armed as to cause fear.
Mr Doyle's case was briefly mentioned in the Toowoomba Magistrates Court on Monday and Tuesday but was adjourned both times.
Acting duty lawyer Alysha Jacobsen told the court on Tuesday there would be no application for bail on the original or upgraded charges.
Magistrate Louise Shephard ordered a brief of evidence and the matter was adjourned to Wednesday when the upgraded charge would be mentioned for the first time.
Mr Doyle remains in custody.
