A former cruise ship entertainer accused of murdering his cheerleader girlfriend at their Gold Coast high-rise apartment has been remanded in custody after being charged with a child-sex offence.
Jayden Moorea, formerly known as Dan Shearin, has been on bail granted by the Supreme Court after it was alleged he murdered Breeana Robinson in 2013.
Ms Robinson fell from the 11th floor of a Southport apartment and her death as initially treated as a suicide before the investigation was reopened in 2017.
Last year Mr Moorea was committed to stand trial over the death but a date is yet to be set.
In an unrelated incident, Mr Moorea was arrested last week and charged with indecent treatment of a child under 16 after an alleged sexual text exchange with a 14-year-old girl.
He was denied bail at the Southport Magistrates court on Tuesday.
The court heard Mr Moorea had posted a job advertisement on marketplace platform Gumtree, which the child replied to.
It is alleged the minor sent sexually explicit photos and videos to Mr Moorea.
Magistrate Dzenita Balic told the court Mr Moorea knew the age of the girl, but "actively engaged" in the conversation that followed.
Defence lawyer Chris Hannay applied to have the bail application and affidavit heard in a closed court.
He also offered a $20,000 surety for Mr Moorea's bail, but both applications were denied.
Accused remanded in custody
Mr Hannay told the court his client had been under strict bail conditions and had been excluded from using social media, was forced to hand in his passports and had to report to police every weekday.
Magistrate Balic said despite the stringent conditions, she was not satisfied Mr Moorea would not reoffend if he was granted bail on the new charge.
She said the allegation was "serious", despite Mr Hannay arguing Mr Moorea had "never touched or met" the girl.
Mr Hanny argued the earlier charges were "problematic" when considering bail on the charge relating to the underage girl.
Magistrate Balic told the court "the murder charge matters if he's alleged to have committed an offence".
Mr Moorea has always maintained his innocence about the murder charge.
He has not yet been required to enter a plea.
He has been remanded in custody and is due to appear in the Southport Magistrate's Court on September 13.
