A woman who previously accused Sean “Diddy” Combs of sexual assault has amended her lawsuit to include allegations against Jay-Z. The woman claims she was assaulted by both celebrities at the same party.
The lawsuit, initially filed against Combs in October, now names Shawn Carter, known as Jay-Z, as a defendant. This marks the first time a celebrity has been accused of sexual assault in connection to Combs.
The woman, identified as Jane Doe, alleges that she was 13 years old when the assaults occurred at an after party following the Video Music Awards in 2000. She claims to have been drugged and assaulted by Carter and then Combs in a bedroom at the party.
Carter responded to the allegations, urging the filing of criminal charges rather than a civil lawsuit. Combs, who is facing charges of sex trafficking and other offenses, has denied all allegations against him in multiple civil lawsuits.
The lawsuit also details attempts at mediation, with Carter accused of orchestrating harassment and intimidation to prevent the woman from naming him in the lawsuit. Carter dismissed the mediation request as a 'blackmail attempt.'
Attorney Tony Buzbee emphasized the seriousness of the matter, stating that it will be litigated in court. The lawsuit has garnered attention, with inquiries made to Beyoncé Knowles, Jay-Z's wife, for comment.
In response to the allegations, Carter expressed concern for his family and the impact on his children. The lawsuit has also seen a counterclaim from an anonymous male celebrity accusing Buzbee of extortion.
Buzbee has denied the extortion claims, asserting his commitment to supporting sexual assault survivors. He emphasized the importance of public disclosure in addressing the situation.
Overall, the case continues to unfold, with both sides presenting their perspectives as the legal process moves forward.
