Javi Gracia 'set to become Leeds United boss' and oversee relegation fight

Javi Gracia is set to become the new Leeds United head coach, according to the Athletic.

The Spaniard is ready to take over at Elland Road from interim boss Michael Skubala and is prepared to use his knowledge of the Premier League from his time at Watford to help keep Leeds away from relegation.

The 52-year-old reportedly had an interview with the Whites board yesterday and has been out of work since leaving Qatari club Al Saad back in June of last year with his deal lasting until the end of the season to oversee the fight against relegation.

The reported appointment comes after the long search for a replacement for Jesse Marsch who was sacked over two weeks ago following a poor run of results.

Since then, Skubala has been at the helm of the dugout but has seen just one point from his three games in charge with Leeds slipping to a season-low position of 19th.

The drop to the Championship is a very real threat to Leeds and Gracia now will have the task of guiding the club through a tough period and up to safety out of the bottom three.
