Jason Quigley picks his winner in Carl Frampton vs Michael Conlan mythical fight

Jason Quigley says he would have to back Carl Frampton in a mythical fight with Michael Conlan.

Frampton retired last year after winning world titles in two different weight divisions.

Conlan narrowly missed out on his first world belt last weekend when he was sensationally knocked out by Leigh Wood in the final round of their WBA featherweight showdown in Nottingham.

The 30-year-old former amateur standout was ahead on all three judges' scorecards when he was knocked through the ropes at the Motorpoint Arena to cap a remarkable comeback from Wood.

Donegal middleweight Quigley invited fans to send him questions during an Instagram Q&A on Tuesday.

One person asked him: "Prime Frampton vs Conlan, who wins?"

Quigley replied: "Great question lad. That would be a cracking fight.

"Just because Frampton been there, done it and proved himself as a pro I would have to go with Frampton."

Frampton won world titles at super-bantamweight and featherweight before losing out in his bid to become a three-weight world champion in his final fight against Jamel Herring.

He beat Kiko Martinez to claim the IBF World super-bantam belt in Belfast in 2014, before producing a sensational display to beat Leo Santa Cruz and claim the WBA 'Super' World featherweight title in New York during the summer of 2016.

Conlan is one of Ireland's most successful amateurs of all time, having won a bronze medal at the 2012 Olympics and becoming world champion in 2015.

He has enjoyed a high-profile pro career, from having Conor McGregor in his corner for his debut at Madison Square Garden Theatre to selling out Falls Park in Belfast for his Feile fight with TJ Doheny last summer.

He was seconds away from becoming world champion last Saturday night, but champion Wood produced a stirring final round to snatch the victory.

Quigley said of the fight: "Unbelievable heart and determination from both men.

"Most fight fans would love to see a rematch but I think Leigh will go on and challenge the winner of Josh Warrington vs Kiko Martinez."
